Mémé’s four-year-old grandson came to her and said, “I have a song!” As it developed it became a family song that was sung, especially in the car. Our friend, our pianist, suggested a recording. Another wondered why only in one language. Over the years it has been recorded by young and old in sixteen languages. As Evan says in the book Evan’s Little Pillow, he hopes that you will sing his song in your languages as well as in the languages of your friends.
Genre: Kids/Family: Lullabies
Release Date: 2018

One wintery morning in 2008 in Alaska, I observed my grandson Evan, almost 4 years old, studying a little tapestry pillow on the sofa. Shortly, he came to me and said, “Meme, I have a song!”
“Oh!” I said. “Let me hear it.”
“Little pillow little pillow, with blue flowers. (I heard the key of F in his young, husky voice: FGAF, FGAF, FGAF).
“Oh, what do you do with your pillow?”
“I lay on it.”
And why do you lay on your pillow?”
“To rest my head.”
“And why do you lay on your pillow to rest your head?”
“To fall to sweep,” he explained.
As the years went by, Evan’s song became a family song that was sung, especially in the car. Then, our friend the pianist, suggested a recording. Another friend wondered why only in one language.
So, it is because of Evan’s little song that Pillows for Kids Foundation was founded, a non-profit with a mission to provide timely support for kids in need to participate in activities that foster their development. We have told our story of the foundation in the book EVAN’S LITTLE PILLOW, copyrighted 2018.
Evan’s little song and the resulting foundation have connected me to people before whom I am humbled, especially our recording engineer Kevin A. Barnett of kevin@lovingdogmusic.com and kevin@mirrorstudios.com and our pianist and piano teacher, Deborah Hannam, now Czako. Their incredible patience with my scattered spurts of imagination and recordings over the many years has finally produced these tracks. We have Deborah’s lullabies of “Little Pillow”, and the recordings of the song in 16 languages. I have experienced serendipitous moments with the people, young and old, who have translated and/or sung for this music album. Now, I know them as good friends; some I have never met; and some I have met for only a very short time during my world travels. Fortunately, they have all been willing to contribute to our mission. They gave us a resounding YES! And I hope that you will join them in support of our mission to provide small, but significant scholarships to kids who can benefit from a boost.
Evan says he hopes that you will sing his song in your languages as well as the languages of your friends.
